The Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion Co. (SVBPCO) was formed in 1993 to provide an opportunity for adult brass players and percussionists in the central Ohio area to entertain audiences with brass band concerts in the tradition of the British brass bands of 100 years ago. SVBPCO enjoys continuing the tradition while adding its own fun and flair. What sets the SVBPCO apart from other bands is that while the SVBPCO plays in the tradition of the original brass bands, SVBPCO encourages camaraderie and hijinks among the members while working to create a unique and fun musical experience for the audience.
SVBPCO's new home is Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church on Schrock Road in Westerville, Ohio.

In Junes past, we played the “Concert on the Commons” and shared the stage with the New Albany Chorus, another group that was supported by the New Albany Arts Council. This concert included all types of band music with a dash of patriotic music due to the proximity to Independence Day. In October, our “Night Moves” concert would set the stage for Halloween with well-known creepy music of all sorts. December sometimes received its due with a Holiday concert showcasing pieces pertinent to the theme, and the Spring typically received its fanfare to welcome the return of warmth and life.
In the late Spring of 2018, the New Albany Arts Council closed its doors and the band decided to forge on by itself by creating a non-profit group. A board was created and we continue to provide a place for Ohioans in the Columbus area to enjoy playing their instruments in a fun and stress free environment.

The Powell Community Band is a vibrant ensemble that unites musicians of all skill levels in the heart of Powell, Ohio. Formerly known as The Greater Columbus Concert Band (founded in 1987), the group relocated to Powell in January 2021 at the invitation of city leadership. Since then, we have enjoyed a warm welcome from the community, thanks in large part to our partnership with Faith Life Church, which generously hosts our weekly rehearsals.
Dedicated to celebrating music and community, the band performs a diverse repertoire, ranging from traditional and patriotic favorites to contemporary pieces. We are proud to host the annual **Village Green Summer Concert Series** in collaboration with the city, featuring performances on the second Sunday of June, July, and August. Each year, we invite other Central Ohio community bands to join us, fostering a spirit of collaboration and shared musical joy.
Another cherished Powell tradition is our annual **Holiday Concert**, held in early December at the Faith Life Church Auditorium, where we spread seasonal cheer through music.
Beyond these events, the band actively engages with long-standing community partners, performing at occasions such as the **Milvets Armed Forces Day Luncheon**, the **Park of Roses Summer Concert Series**, and the **Worthington Christian Village Summer and Christmas celebrations**. Additionally, the full band—or smaller ensembles within it—is available to perform at Powell community events, including **Veterans Day**, the **Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration**, and more.
